40 Years...   BEEF:  New Tastes, Old Traditions

Beef Empire Days invites you and/or your organization to participate in the Aquila - Beef Empire Days Parade! The 2008 parade date is Saturday, May 31, beginning on south Main Street at 10:30 a.m. We are asking all participants to pre-register by completing the entry form and returning it to the Beef Empire Days office no later than Wednesday, May 28, 2008. Pre-registration allows time for our parade announcers to compile information on your organization and/or entry thus making for a great viewing experience.

The staging area on the Finney County Fairgrounds Parking Lot will open at 8:00 a.m. the morning of the parade and all participants should be in line no later than 9:45 a.m. so the parade can be on Main Street by 10:30 a.m.

This year we are ask each group bringing a vehicle on to the lot to enter by driving south on Taylor Avenue to Lake Avenue. Taylor Avenue can be accessed from west Maple Street and is the street between the Horse Palace Building (WEST SIDE OF STREET) and the Livestock building (EAST SIDE OF THE STREET) on the Finney County Fairgrounds complex. This is the same as past years.

IF YOU ARE BRINGING IN PARADE PARTICIPANTS TO BE DROPPED OFF YOU MAY PARK ON THE DIRT LOT LOCATED ON THE EAST END OF THE COMPLEX (NORTH OF THE 4-H BUILDING). ACCESS TO THIS LOCATION IS FROM ISABEL AVENUE OR 9TH STREET.

NO FLOATS OR MOTORIZED ENTRIES WILL BE ALLOWED ONTO THE LOT FROM THE 9TH AND LAKE STREETS GATED INTERSECTION (NEXT TO THE BALL FIELDS).

The 2008 parade theme is 40 Years...BEEF:  New Tastes, Old Traditions, celebrating 40 years. Cash prizes of $75 for first place and $50 for second place will be awarded in all categories. Ribbons will be awarded in all categories for first, second and third places. Categories include adult, youth, 4-H, commercial, vehicle and animal. Judging of entries will take place as the parade travels Main Street and winners will be notified the week following the parade.

To comply with city ordinances, No candy or favors shall be passed out from any MOTORIZED MOVING parade entrant. There will be NO exceptions, and you will be taken out of the parade if you break this law. Thank you for understanding that the safety of our citizens is most important. You are welcome to have your representative's walk along the sidewalks passing out candy and/or favors.

You are responsible for your own parade identification signs. It is good to have one for each side of your float or vehicle.
